FLOWER BEAUTY BOYS
The “Flower Beauty Boys Series” explores the extreme importance for young Asian men to value physical appearance, which becomes a criterion for social integration. For this series, Corinne Mariaud traveled to Singapore, Seoul and Tokyo, finding her models through social networks.
These young men aspire to look like the daily selfies they take : perfect, retouched images on their smartphone.By wearing makeup and having cosmetic surgery, they move away from traditional codes of masculinity and take their distances from the societal diktat of virility.
This series offers a reflection on social pressure and contemporary aesthetic expectations, while highlighting the diversity and fluidity of gender identities.
